We Know Not to Try to Do Things We Know Little About

My husband and I tried to work on our roof ourselves, but I think the issue that resulted from our work is that we did not know what we were doing. We had to look for roof replacement in Manhattan NY and it would have been less if we would have just gotten someone to do the work for us in the first place. But we were trying to be cheapskates, and it caused trouble for us. This is not the first time that has happened to us because we tried to be overly-thrifty.

Neither my spouse or me know much about fixing a roof. We tried to use some products that my husband already had in our storeroom to patch up leaks found in two different rooms. The very next time we had a big thunder and lightning storm, water poured through both leaks as if someone had turned on a water faucet. It was very upsetting. My husband happened to be sitting under one of the leaks when it happened, too! He was reading the paper in his favorite leather chair, and the water just poured down on him. We knew that we made a mistake. After that, we bought some tar and tried to cover over the leaks. The same issue with the water pouring in happened during the next bad storm, too. It ruined our leather chair completely.

We called out someone to look over the roof. They told us that we allowed the problem to go on so long that we had caused extensive damage to the wood underneath our shingles. We were mortified. But we needed to fix what we had mostly ignored for so long. They got all of it done in just a few days. We paid them and we were very happy that no leaks appeared again after that.
