Getting Proof of Income for Workers

I have a few people who work for me. I don’t pay them under the table, but I don’t do their taxes either. They are contract workers, which means that they get their full pay from me, and then they handle their taxes on their own. I have my own records, but I had never given them anything like proof of income. I just figured that they would be honest about their own taxes, just as I am honest about mine. However, I was told by a good friend that I should do more to protect myself since I don’t always pay with a check.

If I did pay someone in cash, then that person could say that I gave more or less, or they could even say that I did not pay them. That made sense to me, and I decided to research this so I could definitely protect myself. I knew that the Internal Revenue Service is able to come back on someone years from now, so I figured I better start having better records of what I am doing. I figured the best way to do that would be to have pay stubs, but I did not want to pay to buy a program or hire an accountant to help me with this because those were both expensive options.

Instead, I looked for a program that I could use online only when I needed to. I was able to find one that does a really nice looking pay stub, and it is very easy to use. I knew that it would be the perfect answer once I saw the price. It didn’t even take any time to learn it because the program walks you through every step of it. The guys I hire don’t mind having these, and some have even told me it makes it easier on them!
